Fascination New York: Once the largest city and one of the most famous metropolises in the world, people are still very fascinated by it. Terms such as "Big Apple", "Gotham City" or "The city that never sleeps" are also firmly anchored in international parlance.
I would like to share my fascination with NYC with you in this short film. The pictures and video sequences come from two stays in New York, the main part of my material is from autumn 2018.

Note: Due to a complaint from the rights holder of the last song used, this non-commercial film is unfortunately blocked in CZE, POL, SVK and HUN. I am very sorry.

Even if there are now many fast-growing cities with spectacular architecture all over the world: The myth of New York will remain unmatched in its kind. The heart of the city is undoubtedly Manhattan. Until the beginning of the 17th century it belonged to the Lenape Indians, for whom it was already called Manna-hata (hilly land). According to the story, the Indians sold this island to the Europeans for food worth 15 cows according to today's information.
The most famous landmarks and sights of the city of New York are located in and around Manhattan:Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park or the Empire State Building.
Here is some information for my friends who are planning to fly to New York for the first time. The travel time should be at least 4 to 5 days. The best months for this are May, June, September or October. Starts with Manhattan. My first tip: try to walk as much as possible. It is worth it .. You will get more intense impressions than if you take the subway to all destinations.
My second tip for choosing a place to stay: get a room in Midtown Manhattan near the Empire State Building. It is more expensive than in the outskirts, but you are right in the middle of the pulsating life and can reach almost everything on foot (10 minutes to Times Square, 15 minutes to Rockefeller Center, 20 minutes to Central Park).
For spectacular panoramas, I can recommend a visit to two legendary skyscrapers: Top of the Rock - in the Rockefeller complex. The viewing platform is on the 70th floor. Great view of Central Park and the Empire State Building on the opposite side.
The Empire State Building, which is not only known from the movie "King Kong", is even higher: the outside deck is here on the 86th floor! Fantastic view of New York City. For both destinations, I recommend either early morning or late afternoon. At lunchtime the sun glares from the south of Manhattan, the pictures are not optimal. We had an unforgettable sunset on the Empire State Building-awesome!
One last tip for fans of helicopter tours: New York has the perfect setting for it. You fly from the helipad in downtown Manhattan (east of the ferry to Staten Island) after circling the Statue of Liberty up the Hudson River, past all the famous skyscrapers, towards Central Park. Again, the afternoon is the best time to fly.

I am aware that we and all of you who were in NYC before spring 2020 will not experience this city again to this extent with these impressions. Nevertheless: A trip there is definitely worth it. New York, see you again!

New York, wir sehen uns wieder!
