HIGHWAY 1 - the "Road of Dreams" is one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world.
It is more than 1,000 km long, starts above San Francisco and ends below Los Angeles. California State Route 1 connects northern California with the south.

Anyone who has once driven the heart of the highway between the two famous metropolises - whether in a normal car, in a jeep, in a cabrio or on a motorbike - will remember this journey as an unforgettable experience.

It is a legendary route on which rugged coastal landscapes alternate with dune landscapes and palm-fringed towns. The Pacific Ocean invites you to linger and dream with its wide sandy beaches and spectacular water scenes - beware, addictive!

Not to be forgotten are the picturesque towns along or near Highway 1. A prime example is Carmel by the Sea. Among others, the writer Jack London or Doris Day lived here, and Hollywood star Brad Pitt also has his residence here.

The legend Clint Eastwood, my absolute favourite actor, owns a very beautiful hotel complex here: "Mission Ranch". A short visit to his ranch was therefore a matter of course for me. Of course, Clint Eastwood regularly stops by for a juicy steak for dinner and enjoys the view of the beach and the sea from the terrace. Unfortunately, I only missed him by one day, as he had dinner at his ranch the night before. Clint Eastwood was mayor of Carmel by the Sea for several years.

Just outside Los Angeles is the well-known celebrity resort of Malibu. Barbara Streisand, Cher, Tom Hanks, Pierce Brosnan and Leonardo DiCaprio, among others, live here. Malibu has several stretches of beach with a total length of 50 km. From here it is only 45 minutes by car to the centre of the US film industry: Hollywood.

My film ends in the Hollywood Hills, where the world-famous 137-metre-long and 14-metre-high Hollywood sign is located. The continuation of my California tour with a visit to the centre of the "dream factory" and a legendary giant film studio will then begin here at the Hollywood Sign in a few months.

HIGHWAY 1 - die "Straße der Träume" ist eine der schönsten Küstenstraßen der Welt.

Sie ist mehr als 1.000 km lang, beginnt oberhalb von San Francisco und endet unterhalb von Los Angeles. Die California State Route 1 verbindet den Norden Kaliforniens mit dem Süden.

Wer einmal das Herzstück des Highways zwischen den beiden berühmten Metropolen befahren hat - ob im normalen Auto, im Jeep, im Cabrio oder auf dem Motorrad - wird diese Reise als unvergessliches Erlebnis in Erinnerung behalten.

Es ist eine legendäre Strecke, auf der sich schroffe Küstenlandschaften mit Dünenlandschaften und palmengesäumten Städten abwechseln. Der Pazifische Ozean lädt mit seinen weiten Sandstränden und spektakulären Wasserszenen zum Verweilen und Träumen ein - Vorsicht, Suchtgefahr!

Nicht zu vergessen sind die malerischen Städtchen entlang oder in der Nähe des Highway 1. Ein Paradebeispiel ist Carmel by the Sea. Hier lebten unter anderem der Schriftsteller Jack London oder Doris Day, und auch Hollywood-Star Brad Pitt hat hier seinen Wohnsitz.

Die Legende Clint Eastwood, mein absoluter Lieblingsschauspieler, besitzt hier eine sehr schöne Hotelanlage: "Mission Ranch". Ein kurzer Besuch auf seiner Ranch war für mich deshalb selbstverständlich. Natürlich kommt Clint Eastwood regelmäßig auf ein saftiges Steak zum Abendessen vorbei und genießt von der Terrasse aus den Blick auf den Strand und den Pazifik. Leider habe ich ihn nur um einen Tag verpasst, da er am Abend zuvor auf seiner Ranch zu Abend gegessen hat. Clint Eastwood war mehrere Jahre lang Bürgermeister von Carmel by the Sea.

In der Nähe von Los Angeles liegt der bekannte Prominentenort Malibu. Hier leben unter anderem Barbara Streisand, Cher, Tom Hanks, Pierce Brosnan und Leonardo DiCaprio. Malibu verfügt über mehrere Strandabschnitte mit einer Gesamtlänge von 50 km.

Von hier aus sind es nur 45 Minuten mit dem Auto bis zum Zentrum der US-Filmindustrie in Hollywood. Mein Film endet in den Hollywood Hills, wo sich das weltberühmte 137 Meter lange und 14 Meter hohe Hollywood-Schild befindet.
