Disregulation is real!! And it’s not just for ADHD FOLKS! But it is very common in ADHD and also HSP. We have a certain homeostasis. When that gets disrupted, we become disregulated. How do we correct that? We think of things that will tell our minds and bodies to get back to its state of homeostasis. It may only take a few mindful breaths or an EAP (emergency action plan) from your food addiction recovery program, but it might take more. Like for me in this video how it took an entire morning for me to self regulate. Have grace and patience for your neurodivergent journey. Coping strategies for mental health take time to develop, implement and to become automatic.
Atomic habits is a great resource to get going on developing self regulation habits like exercise or non-addictive activities! :)
Shoutout to @howtoadhd ‘s book which I am listening to in @audible . That’s what got me conscious of my own moments of disregulation and how they affect me and my family!
