They just don't make comedy films like they used to, and Ghostbusters is the perfect example.

I went to see Ghostbusters Frozen Empire this past weekend. And while I enjoyed the new movie, it did get me thinking. About how we went from the pure comedic power of the 1984 Ghostbusters to the more action-adventure narrative seen in most modern day movies.

Comedy films aren't what they used to be. 10 years ago, most comedies would forgo the usual hero vs villain narrative for a story about overcoming more nuanced issues and connecting with friends/family. Even more modern comedies, like the upcoming Ryan Gosling film, The Fall Guy, trade in traditional comedy antics for explosions and high action set pieces.

So today, in honor of the release of Ghostbusters, and respecting the past that brought us this new series of movies, we're taking a look at the good old days of comedy, and trying to discover what changed from then to now.

As always, I appreciate you guys sticking around and watching. Let me know your thoughts on this change, as well as what you thought of the new Ghostbusters!
