Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is finally upon us, after 5 long years! And to celebrate, we're taking a look back on the first Marvel's Spider-Man and it's spin-off dedicated to Miles Morales.

Insomniac's take on Spider-Man has been one of my favorite adaptations of the character to come out in the past decade. The game studio pulling together the best parts of the character to create the perfect mix. So, in anticipation of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, I decided to look back and talk about what made the Marvel's Spider-Man adaptation so extraordinary.

Character, events, story; all these tie together to craft a compelling narrative that works well. The story of the first Insomniac Spidey game so well managed, I've replayed it at least ten times by now, if not more. The supporting cast all fill roles that matter. The enemies, collectibles, and side missions all connect and create a better sense of scope and world. And the relationships Peter shares with his supporting cast, like Mary Jane and Miles is some of the strongest I've seen for Spidey in a non comic setting.
