One of the earliest interviews I recorded was with U.S. Merchant Marine veteran Mr. Gene Pribbenow. He grew up of German descent and did not care for the English. After enlisting in the Merchant Marines he would be sent to England to help collect caissons for creating the artificial harbors known as Mulberries. Mulberries were instrumental in the invasion and without them, the allies may have been pushed back into the sea.
