In this video, I talk about the squat while I demonstrate a heel elevated version (aka Deep Knee Bend). This is a variation that is fairly "stressful" on the knees. A lot of people have concerns of squatting and the impact it has on long term knee health. However, I generally think this concern Is largely overblown. Certainly you can injure yourself squatting, certainly you can overdo it, and certainly injuries and even structural variations may limit your ROM, volume tolerance, or ability to squat well, but that does not mean the movement, for a healthy and prepared individual, is inherently damaging or dangerous. Squatting is a very important movement for maintaining joint health, and it has been a common, everyday practice for most of human existence.
