My name is “Wingit” and I am attempting an Appalachian Trail 2024 Thru Hike - without much of a plan, in fact, I am Winging it along the way. Here is another day I am grateful to share with everyone.

I resumed my hike of the Roller Coaster in Virginia and was cruising along headed toward a side blaze walk to a Restaurant when I ran into a young hiker who was offering to wash dishes to make some money in order to continue his hike at least into Pennsylvania in order to get home where he had additional work waiting with his father. He was looking to make around $40 to get himself up trail a little at a time.

This young man’s willingness to work to support his hike inspired me to give hike enough money to get himself home and I also purchased him a meal at the restaurant. I don’t say this to be boastful but I have been blessed with donations from viewers and want them to know that this resource is going to good use. It was the kindness of YOU all that helped a young and willing hiker on this day. I had nothing to do with it except being there.

During lunch I was notified by my friend Thrive that she had taken a nasty fall on the roller coaster and wanted and maybe needed help. I hitched a ride from the restaurant (thank you Doug) back south on trail to Bears Den Hostile where I dropped my pack and literally ran south on trail to meet Thrive who was bleeding from her nose and injured her knee. I carried her pack up the mountain and managed to get Hydro the shuttle driver to bring us both to an Urgent care in Harper’s Ferry where Thrive needed stitches to close the wound.

Thrive is a trooper and strong woman determined to Thrive on trail and Hydro the shuttle driver who thru hiked last year dropped everything to come and assist. So many people offered to come back for n trail with me to help and I am grateful and thankful that other than the stitches and some knee pain that Thrive is doing well.

Please let me know your thoughts and if you haven’t joined us on this journey, please subscribe and join us as we all trek the road together.

DONATIONS - My needs are met so
ANY & ALL donations will be utilized to help less fortunate hikers. Many are hiking with minimal food & substandard gear, infrequent opportunities to get out of inclement weather, do laundry, or acquire a bunk at a local hostile. Many survive by donated gear from hiker boxes to experience the magic of the Appalachian Trail.

I believe the gift is in the give and utilize every opportunity to be of service to others; on the trail and off. I do what I can, any additional contributions will further validate the AT Mantra “The Trail Provides.”

Love & Peace,

“Wingit”
