A little bit of preparation “left of bang” can make an exponential difference if a situation goes sideways…Contingency anchors is a skill set all operational vertical gangsters should implement…when applicable.  When we clip directly into an anchor and toss the bag of rope over the edge…all the extra rope is sitting on the ground or down in the water - doing us no good if we get a stuck or injured rappeller.  Contingency anchors are rigged in whats referred to as a RTL (rig to lower) configuration, but can be quickly converted to a RTR (rig to raise) based on the environment and context…shooters choice.  Obviously this is not something relevant when discussing emergency egress / bail-out situations - but extremely valuable for most other situations encompassing vertical access, team movement, and rescue.  Similar to what the Beastie Boys dropped in 2004, “'Cause I work magic like a magician - I add up, the mathematician
