Australia has been home to its 1st Nations people for up to 50,000 years and a tiny snippet of their history is found carved into rock near The Basin, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Over this time the area was home to the Garigal people belonging to the Eora nation.
Flying here I could strongly sense the enormity of time and how my own life is so short and for the most part insignificant. Where I stood was very much in the shadows of millions of 1st Nations people who walked and cared for these lands long before I ever visited. This site was clearly important, a relevance and meaning that is sadly now lost to our modern times.
