Welcome to Gliding #022, a celebration of beautiful Australian landscapes. The film was shot entirely on a DJI Mavic 3 Pro. Best wishes and I hope you enjoy watching.

Scenes:
Scene 1 – Meelup Beach, Margaret River Region, Western Australia
Soundtrack: ‘Shining Beauty’ by Marco Belloni

Known for its pristine sand and calm, turquoise waters that are perfect for swimming, Meelup Beach is located just north-west of Dunsborough Town in Western Australia. The coastline itself is blessed with gorgeous white sand and scattered with rocks of diverse colour and size. It is truly somewhere that took my breath away when we visited.

In this scene we start with an approach heading north to fly over Gannet Rock. Following a passing yacht we turn back facing south to see the beach before cutting back to circle Gannet Rock and see an adventurer leap into the crystal clear water. Next it's a pass over the rocky shore until travelling over Meelup Beach itself and finishing the scene travelling toward Castle Bay.

Scene 2 – Vivid Light Festival, Sydney
Soundtrack: ‘Whispers Of Bliss’ by Cristian Romero

The Vivid light festival is an annual event hosted by the city of Sydney. Prominent landmarks of the city are lit in interesting and intriguing ways that present a different and new perspective of familiar sights.

Always the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge plays a central role and is the dominant feature throughout this scene as it changes colour. We follow a Sydney Harbour Ferry from near the bridge, past Walsh Bay and Barangaroo where it turns to head into Darling Harbour. The closing scene is a high view peaking into Circular Quay where it is possible to view the animated projections on the sails of the Sydney Opera House.

Scene 3 – Waverley Cemetery Sunrise, Bronte, Sydney
Soundtrack: ‘Remember Me’ by All This Was Fields

A heritage-listed cemetery on top of the cliffs of Bronte in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, It is also one of Sydney's oldest having operated since 1877. It is the resting place of many influential and significant men and women who helped develop Sydney, NSW, and Australia.

On this cloudless morning we open the scene looking east toward the burning orange band that heralds the start of a new day. We then look back toward some of the iconic tombstones before peering down from a birds-eye view to take in the sheer sandstone cliffs that drop directly into the ocean.

The sequence closes out with a view from the sea of the entire 41 acres of land within the cemetery before taking a final view of the sun having risen above the horizon as if to say to those within 'you are remembered'.

Scene 4 –Berry Bay Lookout, Waverton, Sydney
Soundtrack: ‘Alone In The Dark’ by Den Elbriggs

Formerly the site of a major BP Petroleum fuel storage depot, Berry's Bay has been reclaimed and restored to public access land since being acquired in the 1990s. It's location provides an amazing perspective of Sydney Harbour, a view that has been enhanced with the inclusion of a viewing platform for visitors.

Looking down from above we travel along the length of the peninsula from Waverton Park, heading south over the former BP site. It is easy to make out where the old fuel silos used to stand. As we end over the bay there are the skeletons of old timber jetty's that have since succumbed to the elements and sunk beneath the water.

Scene 5 – Murray Rose Pool \ Redleaf Pool, Rose Bay, Sydney
Soundtrack: ‘Mellow City Lights’ by The Mountain

The final scene of episode #022 of Gliding is a study of Murray Rose Pool, a harbourside tidal enclosure (previously known as Redleaf Pool). The facility was renamed in 2012 after the famous Australian Olympic swimmer who secured many medals in the 1956 and 1960 Olympic Games.

Frequently named as one of the best ocean pools in Sydney, it is a wonderful place to be either at dawn or at the end of the day at sunset thanks to its clear sky view of the harbour and surrounds.
