There are actually several European languages ​​and dialects in which Italy has a name derived from the same root, whose literal meaning is "Land of the Volcae", and in which the Italians themselves are indicated with the name of the Celtic people of the Volcae.

But who exactly were the Volcae, and why did they give their name to Italy?
