This weekend Mandi, Tilli and I found solitude in a county campground called Bullard Bluff. It's located a few miles north of Staples on the Crow Wing River. I found nine county campgrounds along the river plus a few privately owned ones, and Huntersville State Forest is just up the road. I stayed in that forest and made a video two winters ago.
We had beautiful weather this weekend. Highs were in the 40's and lows in the 20's. I had great weather to smoke a turkey over the campfire. I have a viewer, Todd Adams, he makes a campfire oven called the Scoff. He sent it out and I put it to the test. You get to see my first attempt at setting it up and cooking in it. It worked awesome! I'll be using it a lot more. "As I'm sitting here typing this, I imagine making a smoked artichoke dip and flat bread over the fire" If you can think of anything you'd like to see over the fire let me know.
I tried my best to sneak Mandi in on this week's video. She was adamant she didn't want to be on camera. I told her we have the best viewers in the world, and everyone would show nothing but love. But........she says being on camera is my thing, not hers.
I want to thank everyone for all the kind comments from last week's video. I really appreciate how much people care. These videos are an extension of me. It's a video diary of my life. (thankyou Rick for bringing that up in last week's comments) Mandi and my kids read the comments and your words make me proud of the person I am. Thank you for that!
