#trabant #electromobility #gdr We were in Dresden and met Matthias Bähr. He introduced us to a beautiful vintage car.
It's about a Trabant 600 that has been converted to an electric drive. Matthias Bähr introduces the vehicle and mentions that the Trabant 600 is already rare, but the electric version is even rarer to find. Matthias Bähr, an expert in electric mobility, talks about the advantages and disadvantages of this car.

The electric Trabant is presented as one of the customer vehicles that was converted to a fully electric drive in 2019. The performance of the electric Trabant largely corresponds to that of a normal petrol-powered Trabant, with a top speed of just over 100 km/h and better acceleration characteristics. The range of the vehicle can vary depending on the customer's needs, but it is usually between 50 and 150 km. Matthias Bähr mentions that the vehicle will remain registered and emphasizes the importance of safety technology and double monitoring to prevent possible damage caused by system errors.

The interior of the electric Trabant is shown, including the central electric control that connects the old petrol car to the new electric car. Various components such as the engine control, the DC-DC converter, the alternator, the heater and the 12-volt battery are explained. The vehicle's electric motor has an output of 12 kW.

Matthias Bähr explains that the conversion does not affect the registration of the Trabant because the transmission remains unchanged. This allows the vehicle to be driven like an automatic car. The electric Trabant has the advantage that it can drive in environmental zones and has low energy consumption. Matthias Bähr also mentions that many of the company's customers are Trabant collectors and use the electric Trabant as an addition to their collection.

Short driving sequences are shown that present the electric Trabant in action. Matthias Bähr emphasizes the vehicle's simplicity and user-friendliness. At the end of the video, the prices for the conversion kit and the completion of the electric Trabant are given.
