My greatest pet peeve - besides close-talkers - is when movies, TV shows, and novels, violate Aesthetic Distance. Even an innocent Establishing Shot is capable of breaking this narrative rule. Violating Aesthetic Distance affects the audience on a subconscious level, bumping them out of the story.
