Today's video covers rehab exercises for neck arthritis, which can limit one's range of motion and cause neck pain.

Spondylosis, or arthritis of the neck, is very common and often produces no pain. As we age, the discs in our spine slowly lose water and shrink in height. This change in disc height applies more stress to the facet joints that connect our vertebrae (back bones). Increased stress on the joints and surrounding bones creates arthritic changes, including bone spurs.

In some cases, these changes to the surrounding tissues result in neck pain and stiffness, especially with activities that require the neck to more through a wide range of motion, such as checking your blind spot while driving or looking up to the ceiling. Arthritis of the neck joints typically produces dull, achy pain and stiffness. In some cases, clicking and popping may occur when turning the head from side to side.

This video includes a few exercises that may be prescribed in physical therapy for neck arthritis. The neck pain program in my book is much more comprehensive and guides you through three phases of rehab.
