Parents, its funny how we can start out with hard and fast rules, then somewhere along the way, we change our minds. For many years, our house rule was no critters such as Snakes, Frogs, Geckos, etc. I am still a hard no on snakes, but I have softened over the years on other things. Here is a short story of the dart frog.

Four years ago, just a few short months before the pandemic, my son and I traveled to Lansing, MI to visit a pet shop that we heard so much about. It is called Preuss Pet Shop.

It was a cold, icy day in January, 2020 when we decided to jump in the Expedition, and head north west. When we got to the pet shop, it was everything people said it would be; a large story with tons of inventory.

We are aquarium hobbyist and that's what brought us here. We wanted to explore and see what this place had in the way of tropical and saltwater fish.

But, it was here my son saw the Dart frog, and decided that is what he wanted to pursue. Of course, with our houses no critter rule, Dad said "NO!"

Fast forward four years and I happened to be at a meeting in Lansing. When I left, I text my Son, who was in school, and said... hey, I'm in Lansing and since I am here, I plan on heading over to Preuss's pet shop before heading home.

He asked me to see if they had any Dart Frogs. They did. They were listed at around $50 and I asked him if he wanted me to pick one up, since we have been talking about it for several years.
