After a nice scamper with friend, Andy, near Cheyenne Canon, we left Colorado Springs for some time up at higher altitude, in Copper Mountain. The ski resort is a great place to stay in summertime, with a lot of activities for the kids and perfect access to the CDT for me. I enjoyed getting my altitude lungs in check up there. We took advantage of the proximity to Leadville to scout out the route for future endeavors, too.
