Time for a girls' trip to the Border Route Trail! I was here a few years ago, backpacking much of the trail Westbound with Kari. This time Anya and I fast-packed it Eastbound, completing the entire rugged, remote, 65-mile route (actually, my watch came to about 80 miles, after some wrong turns). There were a few issues, from lost gear to storms, to constant rain and a couple of bouts of the sleepies. But we had just the right amount of backup plans, and all went well. Enjoy some bonus views of the artistic town of Grand Marais, sweet forest mushroom foraging, and the raging waterfalls that abound on the north shore of Lake Superior.
