Matt Choate had expressed a strong interest in seeing the Chi-Rho carving in Big South Fork for himself. We chose a day to hike to its location on the breathtaking Sunset Overlook. So Matt, and son Micah arrived for the hike at the parking area out East Rim Overlook Road right on time. We had never met in person, so after our introductions and sharing some of our experiences we headed out the very well kept 1.2 mile trail.
No one seems to know who carved the combination of two ancient Greek symbols into the stone, when it was done or why. To me, it’s one of Big South Forks biggest mysteries!
