An old friend, Tim West returned to the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee from the coastal plains of North Carolina and wanted to hike in the mountains once again. Myself, along with Kerry Woolbright and Jimmy Staffey were more than happy to share a trail once again with Tim.
Pogue Creek is one of the finest hikes in the area including the trails in bordering Pickett State Park and Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area. It has many natural arches, towering bluffs and several outstanding views from these bluffs and the mesas.
We absolutely enjoyed it all, especially Killdeer Arch and the great views.
We’re going to be looking forward to Tim’s return in the spring and another outstanding day of hiking!
