Have you had the chance to visit Hay Castle in the charming town of Hay-on-Wye, located in the beautiful country of Wales?

Hay castle has a rich history, with the surrounding area being passed back and forth between the English and Welsh during the Norman invasion. However, despite its tumultuous past and many fires requiring the rebuilding of the castle, Hay Castle stands proudly to this day. Offering a glimpse into the past and a unique perspective on the region’s cultural heritage.

During Richard Booth’s self-appointed reign, the castle was burned by a large fire, resulting in a more modern appearance.

One of the castle’s most fascinating features is the miniature door, located within the larger main entrance. It’s a small detail, but it adds a touch of whimsy and intrigue to this already captivating site.

Hay Castle is now used as an arts and education centre, holding many events throughout the year.

Don't forget to visit the Honesty Bookshop located on the castle grounds. Each book is £1 and all profit helps with the upkeep of Hay Castle.

Whether you’re a history buff, an architecture enthusiast, or simply looking for a memorable outing, Hay Castle is definitely worth a visit.
