With around 300,000 inhabitants, Ljubljana is not only the capital, but also the largest city in Slovenia. The university city is located right in the heart of the country and is not only extremely green, but also very sustainable - in 2016 it was awarded the European Green Capital. But how can you experience the city on a tight budget? Is 300 euros enough for 2 people and 2 days? In the new episode "2 for 300 - Ljubljana" Tamina Kallert and Uwe Irnsinger want to find out exactly that. ( You can find more "2 for 300" in the media library: https://1.ard.de/2-300-ljubljana-?yt=t )

Arriving in the city, the two immediately notice the small inner city core, where everyday life takes place. Small cafés and bars line the river promenade like a string of pearls. No wonder, because Slovenia is a thriving wine-growing region and is also impressive when it comes to culinary delights, with no fewer than 17 Michelin restaurants. The highlight: the open kitchen, which takes place every Friday. Throughout the day, a wide variety of restaurants offer their dishes on the city's central market square.

A bus ride to the outskirts of the city is also worthwhile, as evidenced by Hotel One66. The industrial charm paired with numerous paintings by local Slovenian artists on the wall make you want to stay.

Uwe and Tamina not only see the green side of Ljubljana on their walk through Tivoli Park, but also on the high roof just outside the city centre. Bees have their home there and produce delicious city honey! But the city also has a lot to offer culturally: for Uwe and Tamina, among other things, they visit a museum in the building of an old sugar factory.

After all the impressions, Uwe and Tamina aptly sum up their trip: "Ljubljana – what a chilled, green city!". And they also stayed under 300 euros - wonderful!
