Robin Hall - better known as half a duo with Jimmie MacGregor - presented this Scottish radio programme from Falkirk Youth Theatre in March 1985. It features a cracking selection of music from various performers.

I have never visited the Youth Theatre or even Falkirk - home of coachbuilders and one-time bus operators W. Alexander & Sons - but I am pleased to report that the organisation is still alive and well. The same, alas, cannot be said of Robin who was lost to the world of music in September 1998 at the age of 61.

Here is the programme - with apologies for any misspellings, and the slight hum on the recording.

1. "I'll Go where the Music Takes Me" - Falkirk Youth Theatre.

2. Extract from the opera "Mlada" by Rimsky-Korsakov - Kilmarnock Concert Brass.

3. "Caller Herrin'" - Scottish Junior Singers.

4. "Killing Me Softly" - Park Mains High School, Erskine:
Jane Hassler & Karen McGowan with David Brooks on Guitar.

5. "Ladybird" – Richard Sekker, Piano; Julian Atkinson, Bass; Kenneth McLeod, Drums.

6. "Jelly Belly" - The Singing Kettle Kids, aided by Cilla & Artie - plus an updated verse from Robin!

7. Set of Reels played on accordion by 11-year-old Deirdre Adamson.

Recorded on a Yashima UFO+ C48 audio cassette tape.

See the tribute, "Robin Hall Remembered" on YouTube.

All comments to JesterJukebox are vetted and may take several days to appear. Nasties will be exterminated!

I hope I am not standing on anyone's tootsies, and that performers and organisations named will be kind enough to allow others to enjoy their music on this recording which seems to be unavailable elsewhere. Thank you. Jester
