Highlights of the FA Cup 5th Round Replay between Ipswich Town and Wolves at Portman Road on 2nd March 1994.

Wolves made two changes to their team following their draw against Ipswich Town at Molineux (   • Wolves v Ipswich Town, FA Cup 5th Rou...  ) ; Robbie Dennison replaced the suspended Chris Marsden in midfield while Lee Mills, in just his third senior appearance, was drafted into Graham Turner's side following an injury to Cyrille Regis.

Throughout January, Wolves had been in excellent form having won four First Division matches (with just one draw), including FA Cup victories over Crystal Palace and Port Vale to set up their encounter with Premier League Ipswich Town. However, despite their fine performance against Ipswich at Molineux, February proved to be a worryingly poor month for Wolves with just a solitary league victory in all that time. The poor run of league form and results from Wolves ultimately signalled the beginning of the end for Graham Turner as manager of the club. Although Turner masterminded successive promotions to the second tier, in subsequent seasons he was unable to achieve promotion to the Premier League - despite, in particular, receiving significant funding from Wolves owner Sir Jack Hayward at the beginning of the 1993-94 season. Just 13 days after the replayed match at Ipswich, Turner departed as Wolves manager following a heavy defeat at Portsmouth.

With John Lyall as Director of Football and Mick McGiven as team manager, Ipswich Town were in a relatively comfortable 12th position in the Premier League prior to their match against Wolves - although they'd won just once since the beginning of the new year. Following their replay against Wolves, Ipswich's poor form and results continued. With just a single victory registered throughout the remainder of their league campaign, relegation was only just avoided on the final day of the season.

For their FA Cup 5th Round Replay, Ipswich fielded the same line-up at Portman Road as at Molineux. McGiven's team included the versatile John Wark, in his third and final spell at Ipswich following his initial near-decade of success at Portman Road, and striker Ian Marshall who finished the season as top scorer for Ipswich with 15 league and cup goals.
