Rational or irrational, being followed without explanation is a pretty scary thought. With this in mind, horror films with this concept, like "It Follows" or "The Terminator" ought to be petrifying. However, there exists a low-budget action film from 1971 which pretty much nails the premise.

Stephen Spielberg's directorial debut, "Duel," entertains the idea of being followed without any explanation or context on the open road, whilst also exploring questions of masculinity and confidence in a subtle way.
