Widely panned and discredited for decades, the "video game adaptation" genre of movie was a critical failure since its inception with 1993's "Super Mario Bros." However, this would change in 2009, with the acclaimed "Professor Layton" franchise making the leap to the big screen. Matching the series' pre-established atmosphere, art style and narrative, "The Eternal Diva" was perhaps the first theatrical movie that proved that making a good video game adaptation was not an impossible feat.
