Charles and Matilda Tippington find themselves locked in their flat when their futuristic lock doesn't seem to work. With food running out and Charles desperate to get this mornings paper, he attempts to fix the lock himself ignoring the suggestion of his wife to call the council.

Upon opening the lock, Charles discovers strange organic components that his 50 years as an electrician hasn't prepared him for. His attempts to fix the lock just make matters worse and his pleas for help fall on deaf council ears.

Matilda waits for their son Tom to rescue them but when he doesn't come, the pair decide to enjoy the last moments they have together.
