Chef Baba shows her grandson how to make her classic and simple Eastern European desert - Serbian Fruit Pie, or Pita sa višnjama. HERE IS THE RECIPE:

Ingredients:
1 lb. Fresh Cherries, mixed berries or other fruit
2 Eggs
1/2 c. Granulated Sugar
1 packet Vanilla Sugar
1/2 c. Vegetable Oil
1 c. Yogurt (plain or other)
1 tsp. Light Rum
1 tsp. Baking Powder
2 c. All-Purpose Flour
1 handful Granulated Sugar
1 handful Ground Nuts (Walnuts, Pecans, Almonds)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

In large bowl, add eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar, vegetable oil. Mix with whisk. Add Yogurt and mix gently until smooth. Add the rum and lemon zest and mix.

In a separate mixing bowl, add flour and baking powder. Mix. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in the other bowl and mix until smooth. Pour batter into cake pan lined with parchment paper and lightly sprayed with cooking oil. Bake for 10 minutes at 350. Remove from oven.

Mix cherries or other fruit with 1 handful of granulated sugar and ground nuts. Carefully place cherries evenly across top of dough, leaving space between the fruit. Cook an additional 20 minutes at 350. Remove from oven and enjoy!
