July 30, 1945, the USS Indianapolis has just delivered the first atomic bomb to the small island of Tinian in the Philippine Sea. Her mission was so secret that no one noticed her missing five days after her sinking from a Japanese submarine. For the 1,200 young men onboard the Indianapolis those early morning hours on July 30th, their ship being sunk was just the beginning of their nightmare that was about to take place.
Watch and listen as Edgar Harrell describes in detail his story of survival and being helpless to save many of his shipmates.
