Hi all,

Today I offer you a retrospective on a significant incident of the 1998 World Cup totally forgotten in France but which still today makes people talk in Germany: it is the aggression of gendarme Daniel Nivel.
On the sidelines of the Germany-Yugoslavia match for the first round of the 1998 World Cup played at the Bollaert stadium, German hooligans sacked the capital of Artois. Several of these hooligans will then attack the gendarmes, and one of them, the chief sergeant D. Nivel, will be plunged for more than 6 weeks in a coma with irreversible neurological damage.
Between failures in terms of security, state affairs across the Rhine, media trials and consequences on French and especially German football, a look back at one of the darkest events of the 1998 World Cup.
