Legacy of Japanese Colonization in Indonesia

Even though there were various Japanese atrocities that befell Indonesian people such as Romusha, comfort women and others, the Japanese colonial period which lasted for 3.5 years had a big impact and left traces that have survived to this day.

In fact, in its various propaganda, Japan has dramatically succeeded in changing the entire order that had previously been made by the Netherlands, both in terms of politics, culture, economy, education to the military.

For the Japanese military at that time, Indonesia was a region whose natural resources and human resources could be utilized for the Asia Pacific war. Meanwhile, for some Indonesian people, the Japanese military is their elder brother who will later give the hopes and aspirations of the Indonesian people. Namely the independence of the Indonesian nation.
