Yohana and I jumped on the ARGO WILIS PANORAMIC 5PC train from Surabaya to Yogyakarta for $50 bucks each. The 5-hour ride kicked off from Surabaya Gubeng and rolled through Java.

Now, the ticket cost 800,000 IDR per person, a bit steep compared to the regular economic class starting at 100K IDR. But hey, we thought, let's live a little! And it kinda paid off!

They treated us to some Indonesian bread, water, and juice, followed by a feast—fried chicken, rice, and some tasty extras. Sadly, I clumsily dropped my meal after a few bites, but no worries, I had backup snacks from a fried chicken joint at the Surabaya train station.

Getting our tickets felt more like airport check-in with seat numbers and all that jazz, a far cry from the European train scene. Comfy seats, surprisingly spacious toilets, and a quick 4-hour journey made the trip a breeze.

Despite the noise upfront and a rowdy group in our wagon, cruising through Java's scenery was a treat for the eyes. Once we hit Yogyakarta, we strolled to our hotel, the Royal Malioboro Hotel, on the flip side of the station.
