East Dean is located in the heart of the South Downs, approximately 7 miles north of Chichester.

We started our walk at the C12 All Saints church which is located on the north east edge of the village. As with all churches of such longevity, this building, believed to be the first on the site, has undergone numerous alterations over the centuries. Further information may be found at https://sussexparishchurches.org/chur....

From here, we wandered to the eastern edge of the village and then made our way up Eastdean Hill. We were not disappointed - the South Downs in their early autumnal glory. Red Kites were in abundance, and we were fortunate enough to catch sight of a late Speckled Wood butterfly.

We returned to the village, at the centre of which is the pond, which is considered to be the source of the River Lavant. East Dean is, in the main, a delightful collection of historic buildings. Generally they are of brick and flint construction, a design that is typical of this area of West Sussex.

All background and natural sounds were recorded during our time filming.

We hope you enjoyed watching as much as we enjoyed walking. If you did, please remember to click the thumbs up (like) button, and leave a comment.
