Robert Altmans 1975 film Nashville follows the events of a 5-day matinee of country music and politics. A film that boasts a wealth of over 25 major speaking roles, Nashville focuses on the lives of a town full of larger-than-life characters as they all hope to achieve success and the American Dream. Some succeed, some fail, all the while Nashville provides a heavy dose of satire and comedy to keep you infested in the somewhat confusing interweaving plot-lines.

Altman’s big success with Nashville is the creation of a real functional town, with inhabitants that all have the own personality and individual characters. The script (written by Joan Tewkesbury) is teaming with subtleties and subtext that flesh out the characters and is overflowing with drama that earns the film at least 2 viewings to take it all in!
