A short movie made of the train journey between Nanu Oya and Ella, in Sri Lanka. The line from Colombo towards the East is one of the three "main lines" now operational in Sri Lanka. From Colombo the line goes to the cultural capital of Kandy and from there to the hill country of Nanu Oya (for Nuwara Eliya hill station) and onto Ella and Badulla. The hill country is famous for its huge tea plantation and the train ride is through these plantations, deep forests and ravines. This railway line was built in stages with the last section to Badulla getting completed in the year 1924.

The small trains generally have around five to six coaches. A third class ticket from Nanu Oya to Ella costs around 80 LKR. The whole route has an old world charm to it, as the signalling system and the railway stations all are British vintage. The journey from Kandy to Nanu Oya too is spectacular, as it goes through areas like Gampola and Hutton. Train lovers would love the journey on this section too. This video was made by short clips taken by a Procus Viper action camera and Canon IXUS 105.
