Www.thebikefitphysio.com. Week 4 of the hip pain prevention series and this one is for those of you who have hip pain! I have been dealing with pain at the front of my right hip when bringing the knee up in the pedal stroke and this also led to referred pain down into the right knee.
Through working with my neuromuscular therapist, Robbie O’Driscoll of Cafe Move Cork, I am so so much better. Robbie was able to identify the muscles that were shortened and in need of some deep tissue work and dry needling. This approach, tied in with the targeted stretches has been very effective.
My tip to you, if you have hip pain resulting from cycling with subsequent muscle hypertonicity, involve a good therapist who can use their hands and needling to give you the window of opportunity to work on the rehab.
