NOTES ASISI SUHARIYANTO

MOUNT WUKIR TEMPLE is a temple on Mount Wukir, a small hill on the south side of Muntilan District, Magelang Regency, about 3 km from the Kali Krasak bridge on the Semarang-Yogyakarta national road, which forms the border of D.I. Yogyakarta and Central Java.

This small temple is located on a hill which is included in the Kedu Plain area, and can be reached by walking about 300 m from the nearest hamlet. It is located near the road that connects Salam District with Ngluwar District.

The Kedu Plain area itself is an area that has many cultural heritages. Relics from the same era were also found near the Gunung Wukir temple, Losari Temple (found 2004) and Petirtaan Mantingan (found 2019). Meanwhile, a little further to the northwest, there are also Gunungsari Temple and Ngawen Temple. All of these temples, except for Ngawen Temple, are in the Salam District, Magelang.

It turns out that there are many unique facts about Indonesian history that deserve our attention, of course, from a new perspective. For example, regarding the Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms in Indonesia, the Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms in the archipelago, ancient Javanese philosophy, ancient Javanese philosophy, even Javanese customs in ancient Javanese culture, both in writing and in temples. Including the giant snake from Borneo.
