The National Institute of Innovation and Transfer in Agricultural Technology (INTA), was created by Law No. 8149 of November 22, 2001, its objective is to contribute to the improvement and sustainability of the Agricultural Sector, through the generation, innovation, validation, research and dissemination of technology, for the benefit of Costa Rican society. As a modern institution, it seeks to provide a timely response to many of the biotic and abiotic limitations present in production processes, such as: availability of high quality and pure seed, new genetic materials endowed with greater productivity and tolerance to pests and diseases, new alternatives for biological control of pests, biotechnological development, new technologies for the management of water resources, soil and tools that contribute to territorial planning, laboratory analysis service and technology transfer.
