Karlovy Vary, one of the most famous and traditional spa towns in the world, is still known today by its German name Karlsbad. Alexander von Humboldt described Karlsbad as a brilliant with an emerald setting. Spa guests from 80 countries enjoy their stay in this special place, which has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage list of important spa towns in Europe since 2021.

Karlovy Vary, located in the west of the Czech Republic at the mouth of the Tepla and the Eger, has 49,000 inhabitants. The first spa guests from European noble families came here as early as the 15th century. Karlsbad gained world fame in the 18th century.
The poet prince Goethe loved Karlsbad and was here thirteen times.

The Grandhotel Pupp - the city's most famous hotel - was opened in 1701. The name of the noble hostel goes back to the confectioner Johann Georg Pupp. The hotel's guest list is extremely impressive, here is a short excerpt: Bach, Beethoven, Dvorak, Wagner, Paganini, Napoleon and Casanova. Hollywood stars like Brad Pitt and Robert de Niro also stayed here. Numerous films were filmed at the Grandhotel Pupp, including the Bond film “Casino Royale” and “Shanghai Knights”.

Becherovka, the most famous liqueur in the Czech Republic, definitely needs to be mentioned. In 1807, the pharmacist Josef Becher sold the distinctive and popular stomach liqueur, first under the name "Karlsbad English Bitter", and later as "Original Karlsbad Becherbitter". The closely guarded recipe is still a guarantee of success today. Currently 7 million liters are produced per year and exported to 30 countries. The Becherovka brand has belonged to the French group Pernod Ricard since 1997.

In any case, it is noteworthy that Karlovy Vary has an international airport on whose runway an Airbus 320 can land, for example.

Kurgäste aus 80 Ländern genießen ihren Aufenthalt in diesem besonderen Ort, der seit 2021 zum UNESCO Welterbe der bedeutenden Kurstädte Europas gehört.

Becherovka, der berühmteste Likör Tschechiens muss unbedingt noch erwähnt werden. 1807 verkaufte der Apotheker Josef Becher den markanten und beliebten Magenlikör zuerst unter dem Namen " Carlsbad English Bitter", später dann als "Original Karlsbad Becherbitter". Die streng gehütete Rezeptur ist noch heute ein Erfolgsgarant. Derzeit werden 7 Millionen Liter im Jahr produziert und in 30 Länder exportiert. Die Marke Becherovka gehört seit 1997 zum französischen Konzern Pernod Ricard.

Bemerkenswert ist in jedem Fall, dass Karlsbad einen internationalen Flughafen besitzt, auf dessen Landebahn zum Beispiel ein Airbus 320 landen kann.
