UBE BAR bread
These bars reminisces every Filipino’s childhood days during year 80’s & 90’s & still visible today in some local Pinoy bakeries.
It is a dense bread shaped in bars then glazed with ube(purple yam) flavored syrup & coated with shredded or desiccated coconut. It’s delicious taste, crumbly texture & attractive color makes it one of the favorite bread snacks of Filipinos.

✔️Dough
1/2 cup water [120 ml]
1/2 cup sugar [100 grams]
1/4 cup milk powder [30 grams]
2 & 1/2 cups all purpose flour [320 grams]
1 tsp baking powder
1/2tsp salt
1/2 cup margarine (or lard/shortening) [100 grams]

✔️Ube Syrup
1/2 cup water [120 ml]
1/2 cup sugar [100 grams]
1 tsp cornstarch (optional)
1 tsp liquid ube flavoring

*3/4 cup desiccated coconut [75 grams] (for coating)

Baking time: 20-25 mins @ 170C
(Baking time/temp may vary with oven specs)
