Jääkärien marssi Op.91a (i.e. "Jäger Marsch"), is a finnish military Marsch composed by Jean Sibelius on a patriotic poem written by the finnish Hilfsgruppenführer (i.e. "commander") Heikki Nurio who fought during 1. WK in the Königlich-Preußischen Jäger-Bataillons Nr.27 against the Russian Empire, of which the Grand Duchy of Finnland was still a part.
The first public performance of Jäger March was in Helsinki on 19 January 1918 by the choir Akademiska sångföreningen, led by Olof Wallin. The Finnish Civil War began on the same day between the White and the Red troops. White Finnland was helped to fight against the bolsheviks by the german army; the Reds were repelled in 15 May 1918, after 3 months, 2 weeks and 4 day of fighting.
The video fragments are taken from the german Film 'Einzug des siegreichen Generals von Mannerheim in Helsingfors - 1918' (i.e. "Entrance of the victorious general von Mannerheim in Helsinki - 1918") which can be found here:
