Really easy do it yourself tripod mount. It does require a couple of tools that not everyone will have or want to get just for this. But if you already have a table saw you're good to go!
Also, this is not precision work. You can make it precision work, but it's just as effective if you eyeball it.
Part list:
4" of 2X4
1 3" allen bolt
2 screw in insert bolts
3" of 5/16 dowel (optional)
3/4" of 3/4" dowel (optional)
wood glue (optional)
JB Weld (optional)
Tools:
Table saw
Drill
5/16th drill bit
Anything listed as optional is related to an element of the design that you can probably do without. The 3/4 dowel is for gluing to the head of the bolt so that you don't need an allen wrench. I find this convenient, but not necessary. The guide dowel is also not necessary, but makes the unit feel more sturdy.
