The puppets are out in the streets of Nairobi!

This edition of #XYZMtaani is based on Buni Media’s ongoing efforts to strengthen democratic governance, rule of law and accountability, while rallying communities to demand for transparency and accountability from their leaders.

The performance features Mama Kalondu, a vegetable vendor in the heart of an informal settlement, and her journey into elective politics vying against a male candidate for the position of MCA (Member of the County Assembly).

Despite her advocacy and leadership skills that benefit her community, including securing safe drinking water and good roads, she is rigged out of party nominations by virtue of being a woman - and one who couldn’t corrupt the system to buy the nomination certificate.
