The Katiba project is designed to influence public opinion on transparency in governance issues for improved social and political accountability in Kenya by leveraging digital technology and participatory media to make the constitution accessible in an easy to understand format. The long-term goal is to influence civic participation around the country by increasing the knowledge and understanding of the Constitution, and fostering in citizens a sense of identity, belonging, and ownership of Kenya’s destiny – thereby driving a demand for high standards of accountability and transparency from political, business and social leaders.

The community theatre performances give us an opportunity to directly engage our audiences on constitutional and governance issues that affect their day to day lives; accountability, governance, constitutional implementation, elections, amendments to the constitution and endemic corruption in Kenya. We hope to engage more communities in different counties in Kenya.
