Quick note! Not all fruits are exactly 9 lbs per gallon. And apparently blueberries weren't a great example because I've since found out they're closer to 8.25 lbs per gallon! The calculator still works the same though - you would just adjust the setup for the more accurate estimate.

Brew-day hydrometer readings won't give you an accurate starting gravity measurement with whole fruit in primary, so what's a homebrewer to do? Today, I'll show you how online calculators can handle the math for you - as long as you give them the correct information. The examples I'll use assume mead, but should apply similarly to other types of homebrew.
