During #WW2 four 280mm guns of battery Grosser Kurfürst at Cap Gris-Nez shelled England. The guns had a 360-degree field of fire and a large bunker (S412) was built for each turret. One of the turrets was disguised as a house. The guns were blown up by the British after the war.
