On Sunday 26th November 2023, the Australian Railway Historical Society ran another very popular and sold out excursion train out to Grandchester. This tour was touted as welcoming back QR's Heritage steam locomotive, BB18 ¼ 1089 "Bety" to a passenger trip on the mainline.

The train spent a bit over an hour at Grandchester while the locomotive was turned on the angle prior to its return to the Workshops Rail Museum platform.
