In the third day of the Africa Eco Race, the challenge was formidable with 40km of special stage racing in complete darkness en route to Dakar, Senegal. Starting in Morocco on my KTM rally bike, the initial 4km were especially tough, featuring deep sand and rocky trails that tested both my endurance and my bike's resilience. Despite doubts about my ability to finish the demanding 522km stretch for the day, encountering the Erg de Chegaga dunes and overcoming a fuel leak added to the day's trials. Yet, finding camaraderie with an Austrian rider named Gunta provided a boost, turning the grueling journey into a shared adventure through the Sahara.

This experience marks part 5 of a gripping series documenting my 13-day journey across the Sahara on a KTM450RR, tackling what's known as the world's most challenging off-road race. Despite the hardships faced, including exhaustive 13-hour rides and the complexities of navigating in the dark, the adventure remains exhilarating. Each day brings a mix of physical and mental challenges, but with determination and a newfound partnership, the path forward, even in the harshest conditions, seems a bit more navigable..
