Drive through veterans memorial highway in July!
Whiteface Mountain veterans memorial highway ascends to the summit of Whiteface Mountain from the village of Wilmington. The road is 8 miles long, has an average grade of 8%, and offers spectacular panoramic views of the Adirondack High Peak Region along its entire length.

Upon opening in 1935, the road was dedicated to New York State Veterans of World War I. In 1985, the road was rededicated to honor all NY Veterans from all wars.
